About Me

About Me

My name is Benjamin Marks.

I'm a home brewer, musician and bar manager currently living in West London.

If you'd like to get in touch, please don't hesitate to email me.

My Brewing Setup

My focus is really making the best quality beer in the smallest quantities possible, allowing me to experiment and tweak recipes a lot easier than the standard 5 gallon setup. It also makes me feel a lot better about taking risks when I don't have 19 litres of it to drink.

I use a 10 litre mash tun / brew kettle, using a sous vide stick to set my strike temperature and BeerSmith desktop software to do all the recipe design maths. I am almost always doing single infusion mashes and my mash tun retains its heat excellently, so heat isn't usually required after strike temperature has been hit. I then boil using a standard kitchen gas hob. I chill with a 30 plate heat exchanger directly into my 5 litre glass carboy fermenters.

My living room / fermentation room is regularly 18 degrees or below, so I use two heat plates and a temperature controller to set my fermentation temperatures.
